New needle angle may spare leg surgery patients from tourniquet pain
NCT ID NCT07548567
First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tests a new ultrasound-guided injection near the femoral artery to prevent pain and dangerous blood pressure spikes caused by tourniquets during below-the-knee fracture surgery. About 84 adults will be randomly assigned to receive the new long-axis block, a standard short-axis block, or a placebo. The goal is to see which approach best controls blood pressure and reduces the need for extra pain medication.
