Scoping out a new diabetes fix: endoscopic procedure aims to regenerate gut lining

NCT ID NCT04725890

Summary

This study tested the safety and feasibility of a new endoscopic procedure called DyaMX for people with type 2 diabetes. The procedure aims to regenerate the lining of the duodenum (the first part of the small intestine) to help improve blood sugar control. 65 adults whose diabetes was not well-controlled on their current medications underwent the procedure and were followed for 48 weeks to check for safety and changes in blood sugar levels.
