Inclusion Criteria: * Type 1 or 2 diabetes mellitus. * Age \>18 years, * Plantar DFU with Texas classification IA or IIA. * Glycaemic control confirmed by a haemoglobin A1c ≤ 10% (85.8 mmol/mol) in the previous 3 months. * Wound area of 1-30 cm2 at the time of inclusion. Exclusion Criteria: * Critical limb ischaemia as defined by the Trans-Atlantic Inter-Society Consensus II guidelines. * Active DFU in the contralateral limb, major amputation (below or above the knee) of the contralateral limb. * Soft tissue infection. * Untreated diabetic foot osteomyelitis. * Need for walking aids.
