New hope for patients who suffer side effects from common cholesterol pills

NCT ID NCT05923281

Summary

This study tested a new medication called K-877 (pemafibrate) for people with high cholesterol who cannot tolerate standard statin drugs due to side effects. It involved 71 adult patients who took either a low dose, a higher dose, or a placebo pill for 12 weeks. The goal was to see if the new drug could safely lower 'bad' cholesterol (LDL-C) in this specific group.
