Race against deadly hospital pneumonia: new antibiotic combo enters final testing

NCT ID NCT07327619

Summary

This study is testing whether a new combination of antibiotics (meropenem + pralurbactam) works as well as an existing treatment (ceftazidime + avibactam) for serious pneumonia that patients get in hospitals or while on ventilators. It will involve about 420 adults with these infections. Researchers will compare how many patients survive by day 14 and monitor safety to see if the new combination is a good alternative treatment option.
