Arm cuff therapy may shield brain after heart attack
NCT ID NCT06473207
First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tests a simple procedure called remote ischemic post-conditioning (RIPOST) in 48 adults who suffered a cardiac arrest outside the hospital. RIPOST involves briefly inflating and deflating a blood pressure cuff on the leg to protect the brain from damage caused by blood flow returning after the arrest. The goal is to see if this reduces brain injury and organ failure, using blood tests to measure nerve damage.
