Nerve stretching may ease chronic ankle pain and instability

NCT ID NCT05090423

First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looked at whether adding nerve-focused exercises (neurodynamic intervention) to usual care helps people with chronic ankle instability. About 40% of ankle sprains lead to ongoing pain, repeated sprains, and a feeling of the ankle giving way. The study included 36 adults who had at least two ankle sprains on the same leg and tested if these exercises improve ankle motion, pain sensitivity, balance, and daily function.
