Brain implant trial aims to give quadriplegics back their hands

NCT ID NCT03680872

Summary

This early study is testing an experimental device called a Bidirectional Neural Bypass System. It aims to help up to seven people with paralysis in all four limbs (tetraplegia) regain movement and feeling in their hands and wrists. The device involves implanting tiny electrode arrays into the brain to record movement signals and deliver touch sensations, with participants attending regular training sessions for up to four years.
