Nerve block study aims to ease rib fracture pain, shorten hospital stays
NCT ID NCT05642026
Summary
This study is comparing two ways to manage pain in adults hospitalized with multiple broken ribs. One group gets standard pain pills and IV medications. The other group gets those standard medications plus a continuous nerve block, which numbs the nerves around the ribs. Researchers want to see if adding the nerve block helps patients feel less pain, use fewer opioid medications, and possibly go home from the hospital sooner.
