New nerve block could slash opioid need after back surgery

NCT ID NCT07334288

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a specific type of nerve block to standard pain medication helps patients feel less pain and use fewer opioid drugs after back surgery. Fifty adults having planned lumbar spine surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either the nerve block plus standard care or standard care alone. Researchers will mainly measure how much opioid pain medication patients use in the first day after their operation.
