Summary

This study looked at whether removing the cancerous kidney (nephrectomy) before starting the drug sunitinib helps people with metastatic kidney cancer live longer. About 450 adults with clear cell kidney cancer that had spread were randomly assigned to have surgery plus sunitinib or sunitinib alone. The main goal was to compare overall survival between the two groups.
