National push to protect tiniest patients from hospital infections
NCT ID NCT07109791
Summary
This study aims to create better national guidelines for preventing and treating ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) in very small, premature babies. Researchers will analyze hospital records from 1,500 infants across Canada to understand how often these infections occur, what causes them, and how they're currently treated. The goal is to develop a standardized approach that reduces infections, limits unnecessary antibiotic use, and improves care for vulnerable newborns.
