New drug cocktail aims to wipe out esophageal cancer before surgery

Summary
This study tests whether adding a new drug (liposomal irinotecan) to standard chemotherapy before chemoradiation can completely eliminate cancer in people with advanced esophagogastric cancer. About 40 adults with stage T3/4 or node-positive disease will receive the drug combo, then chemoradiation, followed by surgery. The main goal is to see how many patients have no cancer cells left in their surgical specimen.
