New Shot-in-Tumor combo aims to shrink melanoma before surgery

NCT ID NCT07230613

First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests whether injecting two immunotherapy drugs (ipilimumab and nivolumab) directly into melanoma tumors before surgery can destroy more cancer cells and cause fewer side effects than standard treatment. About 50 adults with stage III melanoma that can be surgically removed will receive the injections. The goal is to see if this approach leads to a complete or major disappearance of tumor cells in the removed tissue.
