New PET scan outperforms standard tests for rare tumors

NCT ID NCT06240741

First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tested a special PET/CT scan using a radioactive tracer called [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-TATE to see if it could better detect neuroendocrine tumors compared to standard imaging. 71 adults in Japan, including patients with known or suspected tumors and healthy volunteers, took part. The results will help determine if this scan should be used more widely for diagnosis.
