Can a painkiller cream stop ugly burn scars?

NCT ID NCT04685577

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tested a cream called Nefopam to see if it could prevent or reduce raised, red, and itchy scars in burn patients. About 50 adult burn patients had small, controlled cuts made on their hips. One cut was treated with the Nefopam cream and the other with a placebo cream. Researchers then measured scar size, thickness, color, and healing over four months to see if the Nefopam cream worked better than the placebo.
