Brain's pain switch may predict neck adjustment success

NCT ID NCT07194603

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looked at 31 adults with mild chronic neck pain to see if a brain test called conditioned pain modulation (CPM) could predict how well they respond to a single neck mobilization. Participants had their pain threshold measured before and after the treatment, and tracked their pain and recovery over 4 weeks. The goal was to understand if the brain's natural pain-blocking ability is linked to better outcomes from this common physical therapy technique.
