Could amniotic fluid mist help heal scarred lungs? new trial launches

NCT ID NCT07372989

First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This early-stage study tests whether inhaling a mist made from donated amniotic fluid is safe for people with interstitial lung disease (ILD), a condition that causes lung scarring and breathing problems. About 50 adults aged 40-90 with mild-to-moderate ILD will receive the treatment. The goal is to check for side effects and see if lung function improves, since current drugs only slow the disease but don't reverse damage.
