Can a new supplement beat melatonin for deep sleep?
NCT ID NCT07600528
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This small study tested a dietary supplement called NatureU Sweet Dream, which contains GABA and Lactium, against a standard melatonin product in 17 adults with mild to moderate sleep problems. Participants wore a sleep tracker to measure deep sleep duration and percentage. No side effects were reported, but the study was very small and not blinded, so the results are preliminary.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- NatureU Sweet Dream (GABA and Lactium dietary supplement)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a natural supplement option for improving deep sleep without the side effects of melatonin.
- What could go wrong
- This was a very small (17 participants), open-label, exploratory study with no blinding, so results may not be reliable or generalizable. The supplement is not a drug and has not been rigorously tested.
