Keeping mom and baby together could transform care for Drug-Exposed newborns

NCT ID NCT05226624

Summary

This study is testing a new hospital care program for babies born with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS), which are withdrawal symptoms from drug exposure during pregnancy. The program keeps mothers and babies together in a private hospital room instead of sending the baby to intensive care. Researchers want to see if this 'rooming-in' approach reduces time in intensive care, helps more babies go home with their mothers, and improves breastfeeding and support for mothers.
