New combo surgery aims to fix tricky hip fractures better

NCT ID NCT07277569

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looks at a new surgical method for certain hip fractures where the side wall of the bone is weak. Doctors will use both a nail inside the bone and a plate on the outside to hold the fracture in place. The goal is to see if this combined approach helps the bone heal correctly and reduces the need for repeat surgery. About 17 adults with these specific fractures will be followed for 6 months after surgery.
