First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tests whether N-Acetylcysteine (NAC), a supplement, can help children ages 6-12 who struggle with emotional dysregulation (intense mood swings or outbursts). About 80 children with emotional dysregulation will receive either NAC or a placebo for 8 weeks, while 40 typically developing children will serve as a comparison group. Researchers will use brain scans and behavior questionnaires to measure changes in mood and symptoms.
