Which angle builds stronger knees? small study tests two positions
NCT ID NCT07456254
First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tested whether changing the angle of an N-K table (0° vs 50°) during leg exercises could better activate the thigh muscles in 43 women aged 50-65 with knee osteoarthritis. Participants did isotonic knee extensions at both angles, and muscle activity was measured with sensors. The goal was to see which angle produces stronger muscle contractions, which could guide better exercise therapy for knee pain and weakness.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Isotonic quadriceps exercise using N-K Table at different load angles
What this could lead to
If one angle proves better, it could help design more effective exercise programs to strengthen thigh muscles and ease knee OA symptoms.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed study with only 43 participants. Results may not apply to all patients, and the benefit is limited to muscle activation, not a cure.
