Hidden heart risk after kidney surgery: new study aims to find how many patients are affected
NCT ID NCT06515431
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looks at how often people having kidney removal surgery for cancer develop a type of hidden heart damage called myocardial injury (MINS). Unlike a heart attack, MINS has no symptoms but can lead to future heart problems or stroke. Researchers will use a simple blood test to check for MINS in 120 patients and compare different surgery methods to see which ones carry the highest risk.
