Exercise after breast cancer: which workout best boosts healing muscle signals?
NCT ID NCT07698314
First seen Jul 13, 2026 · Last updated Jul 14, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This pilot study looks at how different resistance training routines change levels of myokines—molecules released by muscles during exercise—in women who have finished breast cancer treatment. Participants will be assigned to one of three exercise regimens (conditioning, strength, or hypertrophy training) for four weeks. Researchers will measure 15 different myokines in blood and tear samples before and after exercise sessions to see which regimen produces the most favorable changes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- resistance training (conditioning, strength, or hypertrophy regimens)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could help identify which type of exercise best boosts beneficial muscle-signaling molecules (myokines) in breast cancer survivors, potentially guiding future exercise prescriptions.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small pilot study with only 21 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The study measures short-term changes in myokines, not long-term health outcomes.
