Museum tours and art activities may help seniors with mild cognitive impairment feel better

NCT ID NCT06805578

First seen Jun 22, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026

Summary

This study tested a 6-week museum-based programme called 'Refresh and Reconnect!' for older adults with mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia. Participants took guided tours and did hands-on art activities at the National Museum of Singapore. Researchers measured changes in quality of life, mood, loneliness, and thinking skills before and after the programme. The goal was to see if heritage activities can improve well-being and understand what makes the programme work.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

museum-based heritage programme (guided tours and artist-led activities)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could point toward a non-drug way to improve quality of life and social engagement for people with mild cognitive impairment or dementia.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed study with no control group, so results may not prove the programme works better than other activities. It also only includes people who can participate independently.
