New handheld scanner could replace MRI for muscle checks

NCT ID NCT07502989

First seen Apr 05, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study is testing a handheld device called the mScan that uses a tiny, painless electrical current to measure muscle health. Researchers will compare its results to MRI scans in 150 adults with and without muscle diseases like muscular dystrophy or myositis. If successful, the mScan could offer a faster, cheaper, and more convenient way to track muscle health and treatment effects over time.
