Do you need to push to failure? study explores easier path to strength for seniors

NCT ID NCT07410299

First seen Mar 02, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looks at how many extra repetitions older adults can do after they first feel moderate muscle discomfort until they can't continue with proper form. Researchers want to know if stopping at discomfort can still build muscle, making strength training more appealing for people aged 60-80. Fifteen participants will do bodyweight squats and push-ups while muscle activity is measured.
