Muscle whispers to fat after a workout – scientists listen in

NCT ID NCT04500769

First seen Jan 14, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looked at tiny particles called extracellular vesicles that muscles release after a single resistance exercise session. Researchers wanted to see if these particles carry a specific signal (miR-1) to fat tissue in young healthy and obese adults. 38 sedentary, non-smoking participants aged 18-30 took part. The goal was to understand how muscle and fat communicate, not to test a treatment.
