Heat-and-freeze therapy plus immunotherapy aims to turn liver tumors into cancer-fighting vaccines

NCT ID NCT06889610

First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests a two-step approach for people with liver metastases from triple-negative breast cancer, melanoma, or colorectal cancer. First, doctors use heat or cold to destroy some liver tumors, which may release cancer signals that train the immune system. Then, patients receive an immunotherapy drug (pucotenlimab) to boost the attack on remaining tumors. The goal is to shrink or control the cancer, not to cure it, and participants must have at least three liver tumors and be well enough for daily activities.
