Baby gut refeed trick could cut hospital stays

Summary
This study tests a simple technique called mucous fistula refeeding in 120 infants with an enterostomy (a surgical opening in the belly). The goal is to see if refeeding waste from the lower opening back into the gut helps babies reach full feeds faster after the second surgery to close the stoma. If it works, babies could go home sooner and need less IV nutrition.
