Simple shot may rival joint injection for knee pain relief

NCT ID NCT07347028

First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study compares two injection methods for knee osteoarthritis pain: one into trigger points (muscle knots) and one into the joint space. About 1,036 adults aged 45+ with knee pain will receive either treatment and be followed for 2 years. The goal is to see if the simpler trigger point injection works just as well as the standard joint injection.
