Could donor cells help kids with brittle bones grow taller and fracture less?
NCT ID NCT05559801
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This early-phase study tests whether infusions of donor bone marrow cells (mesenchymal stromal cells) are safe and can improve growth and bone strength in 12 children aged 3–10 with severe osteogenesis imperfecta (type 3). The children will receive multiple infusions and be followed for one year to track growth, fracture rates, and bone density. The goal is to see if this approach can reduce fractures and improve quality of life, though it is not a cure.
