New MRI technique tested for spotting hidden brain AVM after embolization
NCT ID NCT02896881
First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tested whether special MRI scans (SWI and ASL) can find leftover brain arteriovenous malformations (AVM) after embolization, compared to the standard angiogram. About 53 adults with scheduled AVM embolization were enrolled. The goal was to see if the MRI could spot abnormal blood flow as accurately as the gold-standard arteriography.
