New MRI technique could replace angiography for brain AVM Follow-Up

NCT ID NCT02896881

First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tested whether special MRI scans can spot leftover brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) after a procedure called embolization. About 53 adults with brain AVMs scheduled for embolization were enrolled. Researchers compared the MRI results to standard angiography to see how accurate the MRI was at finding any remaining malformation.
