New MRI method may spot complete cancer response without biopsy

NCT ID NCT05876026

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looked at 44 people with locally advanced rectal cancer to see if a special MRI measurement (T1 relaxation time) can accurately detect scar tissue after standard treatment. The goal was to find a non-invasive way to tell if the cancer had completely responded. Participants received usual care and had MRI scans before and after treatment.
