New MRI technique could replace needle test for liver patients

NCT ID NCT06205992

First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tests whether a 3D MRI scan can accurately measure liver scarring and related high blood pressure without needing a needle. About 100 adults with confirmed cirrhosis will get both a 3D and a 2D MRI scan, and results will be compared to the standard pressure measurement. The goal is to find a safer, non-invasive way to guide treatment.
