New MRI technique could replace brain tumor biopsies
NCT ID NCT06916715
First seen Feb 15, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study looked at whether magnetic resonance elastography (MRE), a special MRI that measures tissue stiffness, can accurately grade brain tumors without needing a surgical biopsy. Researchers reviewed data from 626 brain tumor patients to see how well MRE matches standard pathology results. If successful, MRE could offer a safer, non-invasive way to assess tumor severity.
