Blood test could spare some kidney cancer patients from unnecessary treatment

NCT ID NCT06005818

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a blood test that detects leftover cancer DNA can help decide who needs additional treatment after kidney cancer surgery. About 100 people with high-risk clear cell kidney cancer will join. Those with no detectable cancer DNA will skip standard immunotherapy, while those with signs of cancer will receive it. The goal is to see if this approach improves survival and avoids unnecessary side effects.
