Can a simple mouthwash stop chemo's bitter side effect?

NCT ID NCT07573787

First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This small pilot study tested whether a mouthwash made with homoeriodictyol (HED) could reduce the bitter taste that many women experience during chemotherapy for gynecologic cancers. The study planned to enroll 40 participants but was terminated early with 15. Researchers measured taste changes and collected blood and saliva samples to understand how taste is affected by treatment.
