Brain zaps may unlock motor learning secrets in rare movement disorder

NCT ID NCT05351255

First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study looks at how the brain's motor cortex affects learning new movements in people with cerebellar ataxia, a condition that impairs coordination. Researchers will use non-invasive brain stimulation to see if they can improve motor learning. The goal is to understand brain function, not to provide a treatment. 17 adults with cerebellar degeneration are participating.
