Mind over knee: mental rehearsal boosts ACL recovery

NCT ID NCT07210489

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether a 3-week motor imagery program—where patients mentally practice leg movements—can improve leg symmetry and strength after ACL reconstruction. About 70 adults who had ACL surgery 3 months prior will either do the program or not. The goal is to see if imagining the movements helps the legs work more evenly during exercises like jumping and squatting.
