Summary

This study tested whether eating dates or taking moringa can help new mothers with postpartum depression. 363 mothers with mild to severe depression and low breast milk production were split into three groups: dates, moringa, or a control group. After 28 days, researchers measured changes in depression scores, stress hormone levels, and breast milk volume.

Active substance
Dates (Phoenix dactylifera L.) and Moringa oleifera
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a natural, food-based option to help ease postpartum depression and improve breast milk production.
What could go wrong
This is a completed trial, but the results are not yet widely confirmed. The effects may be modest, and individual results can vary.
