New gum fix: collagen patch may replace painful graft surgery

NCT ID NCT07162207

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study tests a less invasive way to treat receding gums. It compares using a special collagen membrane versus a small tissue graft from the roof of the mouth, both placed through tiny pinhole incisions. The goal is to see which method covers exposed tooth roots better, with less pain and nicer results. Eighteen healthy adults with localized gum recession will be followed for 6 months.
