Could a High-Fat, Low-Carb diet help fight brain cancer?

NCT ID NCT02286167

First seen Mar 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a modified Atkins diet combined with short-term fasting is possible for people with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. Twenty-five patients who had already completed standard treatment tried the diet for 8 weeks. The main goal was to see if they could stick with it, and researchers also checked for changes in brain chemistry that might slow tumor growth.
