Could a 7-Minute app match a gym session for fitness and sleep?
NCT ID NCT07762781
First seen Aug 13, 2026 · Last updated Aug 14, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether a mobile exercise app can deliver the same benefits as supervised training. Healthy university students will be randomly assigned to use the 7-Minute Workout® app, follow a supervised high-intensity interval training program, or receive no intervention for six weeks. Researchers will measure changes in physical fitness, sleep quality, and pain levels to see if the app is a viable alternative to traditional exercise.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- 7-Minute Workout® mobile application
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this could support the use of mobile apps as a convenient alternative to supervised exercise for improving fitness and sleep in healthy adults.
- What could go wrong
- The trial is small and short-term, and results may not apply beyond healthy university students. Adherence to the app-based program may vary, and the study does not measure long-term effects.
