Digital health tools tested to boost activity in metabolic syndrome patients
NCT ID NCT07236450
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study explored whether using a mobile app and a Fitbit Inspire 3 tracker can help adults with metabolic syndrome become more physically active. One hundred participants were split into two groups: one used the digital tools plus usual care, the other received usual care alone. Researchers measured changes in physical activity, health markers like cholesterol and blood sugar, and how often people used the app. The goal was to see if such digital tools can be practically used in primary care to support healthier lifestyles.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Mobile health application (Polis Saúde®) and wearable activity tracker (Fitbit Inspire 3)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could show that simple digital tools can help people with metabolic syndrome become more active and better manage their condition in everyday primary care.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, completed study with 100 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The app and tracker only encourage activity—they don't directly treat metabolic syndrome, and long-term benefits are uncertain.
