Smartphone app may ease fear and pain before kidney stone surgery

Summary
This study tests whether a mobile app that teaches patients about their upcoming kidney stone surgery can lower their anxiety, fear, and pain. About 68 adults will be randomly assigned to either get the app or receive standard information. Researchers will measure how patients feel before and after surgery, how much pain medicine they need, and how long they stay in the hospital.
