First seen Feb 10, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study looked at 60 people with rheumatoid arthritis and 30 healthy volunteers to measure differences in a gene called MMP-9, which makes an enzyme that can break down joint tissue. Researchers wanted to understand how this gene might contribute to joint damage in arthritis. No treatments were tested—the goal was simply to learn more about the disease.
