NCT ID NCT02851758

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests a new approach to help children under 18 who are on ECMO (a heart-lung machine) and have heart muscle damage. Doctors will inject the child's own mitochondria (the energy parts of cells) directly into the heart to see if it helps the heart recover and allows the child to come off ECMO safely. The main goal is to check that the procedure is safe, with no serious side effects for one week.
